Tammy Marie Kalar, age 51, passed away surrounded by her family and loved ones Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Tammy was born December 3, 1965 to Gaylord and Christina (Larison) Kalar in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a housekeeper at the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel for 19 years. She loved her family and enjoyed get-togethers. Tammy loved life and enjoyed every moment of it. She enjoyed spending time with her mother and helped her whenever she needed it. She liked listening to country music and dancing and she loved her cat, Cali.
She is survived by her children, Kristi (Justin) Christianson and Jamie (Kelsie Daly) Kalar; grandchildren, Staesha, Caleb, Ava, Brionna, Jayce and Shilah; mother, Christina Armstrong; siblings, Ronnie (Jeannie) Kalar, Cindy (Dennis) Deaton, Sherry Gaspar and Della Kalar; and her companion, Tony Martinez.
Tammy was preceded in death by her father, Gaylord Kalar and her brother, Gaylord Dean Kalar.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 17, 2017 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to help with expenses.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed seeing Tammy when I worked at the savey. I first met her when we worked at the Days Inn on E 14th and Euclid before it got torn down. She was a fun person to work with. She will be missed.
