Dale Belieu, Jr.

Dale Clifton Belieu, Jr., 66, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Dale was born July 15, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Dale Sr. and Ilene (Stephenson) Belieu. He was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. He was a furniture repair technician for Younkers and a member of the Teamsters Union. Dale was a people person and he never met a stranger. He was a clown for the ZaGaZig Shriners Circus for many years. He had a passion for bicycling and loved the Iowa State Fair. Dale was an artist and was very creative. He was supportive of other artists as well and encouraged them in their crafts. He adored his grandchildren and his door was always open to family or friend.

He is survived by his children, Dale (Jenny) Belieu III, Diana (Kevin) Day, Jacob Belieu; father, Dale Belieu Sr.; sisters, Linda Simmons, Mary Belieu, Vicky Oliver; 10 grandchildren; and many other extended family and friends.

Dale was preceded in death by mother, Ilene Belieu; brother, Leo; and sister, Diane.

Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial to follow at Avon Cemetery. Family will greet guests for two hours prior to the funeral.

Contributions will be used for a memorial for Dale at the Iowa State Fair.
