Ancel Swackhammer

Ancel Thomas Swackhammer, 81, died Sunday, December 2, 2007. Funeral services will be 2pm Friday, December 7th at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held 5-8pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Ancel was born in Moberly, Missouri July 12, 1926 to Jesse “Andy” and Priscilla Swackhammer. On May 23, 1947 he married Juanita Mason. They moved to Des Moines in 1948. Ancel was a retired diesel engine mechanic for Rock Island Motor Transit and United Airlines. He loved traveling the United States and was active in the Carriage Travel Trailer Club. He especially enjoyed his trips to Florida and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoy Disney World. Dad loved Mom and always put her first. He was the happiest when he was with her.
Ancel is survived by wife Juanita; his children Cindy (Gary) Cheney, Gary (Denise) Swackhammer, Steve (Michele) Swackhammer, Gina Swackhammer; his adopted daughter, Sheila Weeks; his 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Norwalk Nursing and Rehabilitation Mechanical Lift Fund.
