Ilah B. Yarrington

Ilah Yarrington was born August 11, 1913, in Black Hawk, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd and Mary Purdy. She passed away February 3, 2017, at the age of 103.

Ilah was a great homemaker, devoting herself to her home and family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved spoiling her grandchildren every chance she had. Ilah enjoyed sewing and baking, always having fresh cookies for the grandchildren when they visited.

Ilah was a faithful member of Rising Sun Church of Christ and taught ladies Sunday school for many years.

Ilah is survived by her children, Marlene Frankford, Ken (Nancy) Yarrington, and Larry (Susan) Yarrington; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Floyd, and son-in-law, Walter Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with visitation beginning one hour prior to service time.
