John Robert Kyd passed away peacefully on February 2, 2017. John was born on December 30, 1936. His parents were Linnea Lind Kyd and Walter B. Kyd. John attended Drake University and Graduated from the University of Iowa in 1960 with a major in Psychology.

John was the former district manager of Junior Achievement of Chicago, worked for Armstrong rubber in Des Moines as a foreman in several departments and as a superintendent in the purchasing Department, part owner of Air Freight Delivery Services in Des Moines, and was a part owner of Gallery Ingersoll and Panoche Salon in Des Moines. John spent his later years as a chauffeur for a Des Moines family. There was mutual appreciation, kindness, and friendship between John and the family that had a lasting impact.

He was a member of the University of Iowa Intramural Basketball Championship team in 1958. John won freshman awards in Track and Field for the University of Iowa in 1956.

“I enjoyed my life with but a few exceptions. It was a good ride, and oh those 60’s and 70’s!”

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Capitol Hill Lutheran Church, 511 Des Moines Street.
