Debra Jo Watts
January 30, 2017
Debra Jo Watts, 62, of Des Moines, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 30, 2017 at Mercy Hospital. Debra was born on May 5, 1954 in Des Moines to Evelyn (Herold) and Fredrick Stanley.
Debra graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971. She married Steven Watts on November 22, 1971 in Missouri and together they spent 45 years together. Together they had twin boys Ryan and Bryan on February 21, 1975 and a daughter, Amber on September 19, 1979. Deb enjoyed raising her kids on a farm in southern Iowa. They raised Quarter Horses and cattle.
Her passion in life was riding horses. She traveled all over the U.S. trail riding with her many friends and family. Deb was also a very talented artist and cake decorator. She found great joy in her family, always caring, nurturing and just everyday activities involved in being a “family”. Deb never knew a stranger, she loved everyone she met. She touched the lives of everyone she knew and even those she didn’t. She was known as “Queen” in the family trailer business that her family owned and that she had started. Deb became deeply involved in her church family at Living Waters Fellowship after coming to know Jesus Christ as her Savior early last year. She will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are her children, Ryan (Christy) Watts, Bryan (Mellissa) Watts and Amber (Chris) Rardin; grandchildren, Jordan, Madisson and Jersey Watts and Peyton, Allyse and Riggin Rardin; the father of her children, Steve Watts; her in-laws, Lyle Watts and Helen White and their families; cousin, Vicky (Dave) Whip; and other loving family and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandma, Kitty; her parents; aunt and uncle Wilson; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Pony Express Riders of America in memory of Deb Watts.

I am heartbroken, lost and empty as I have lost my soul sister. We completed each other and shared so many things over 30 years, good and bad. Finally you were ready to start a new chapter but the Lord needed you more than we did. She was an awesome great lady, very loving mother and my best friend. I will do what I can for those she leaves behind, her children and many loving friends. I miss you so much Deb.....until our trails meet again, I will love you always

Dear Steve and family
I was heartbroken to hear the news about Debbie, I still have very vivid and fond memories of our short time of being neighbors and walking our babies in strollers and playing in our back yard together. Those were great times. I actually have photos somewhere of the kids playing. God Bless you and hold you through this difficult time.

Dear Amber, Chris, and family,
We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. We did not know her, but she sounds like a wonderful lady. I'm sure you will miss her greatly, but our loss is Heaven's gain, and we praise God that she is with her Savior! Praying for you.

This amazing women is truly my inspiration, we laughed, we cried, and were there for each other when we needed to have someone. she is on my mind constantly and now my heart is broken. I know she's in the best place, she is healed no more sorrow no more fighting. No more pain and she is happy and she has Jesus to comfort her along with her parents whom she adored! I will not say good bye but I will say I'll see u again when it's my turn and we can pick up where we left off.

Steve, Amber, Ryan and Bryan, I can't begin to tell all of You how much Deb meant to me over the years. I know everyone has grown up and we have drifted apart as the Meyer Family. My immediate family is huge and has consumed our time, but I think of all of you often. At this time, please know we care and plan on being with you. Our Prayers our with all of You. God Bless Carol and Del Shores
