Deloise May Veith, 88, died in a tragic house fire on Sunday, January 29th. The family grieves her great loss but not without Hope! We know that she is with Jesus where she is no longer in pain of any sort. This story is both tragic and amazing – just like the story she was most passionate about – the GOSPEL of Jesus Christ. In our sinful state, destined to be apart from God in hell, Jesus saved us – it’s all His work on the cross and He brings us into relationship with Himself. Today, our mom, grandma, aunt, sister, friend is with Him in heaven.

Deloise was born in Poole, NE, November 23, 1928. She married Cecil (Skip) Veith and they lived in Nebraska, Oregon, Washington, California and settled in Iowa in 1969.

Children have always been a passion of Deloise’s. It was her honor to stay home and raise her children then she helped in raising her grandchildren and worked many years at Park Ave Christian Daycare as a teacher and her last several years as Director.

Everything Deloise did revolved around caring and loving the people around her. Her hobbies included baking, sewing, gardening, crafting, re-decorating and raising pets but she was famous for her delicious cookies.

Lighthouse Community Church was Deloise’s place of worship for the past 16 years where her son, Andy Veith, was the Senior Pastor. Prior to that she was a member of Indianola Heights Free Church in south Des Moines.

She is survived in death by her sister, Lorene Ann Mouzakis; children, Vickie (Bob) Horsch, Ken Veith Sr., Penny Veith and Andy (Loree) Veith; grandchildren, Kristina (Omero) Solis, Gary Schneider, Ken Veith II, Cameron (Emily) Campos, Carston Gordon, Brandyn Veith, Bryanna Veith, Mikayla Veith and Jaryd Veith; great grandchildren, Jasmine Palmer, Richard (Bo) Palmer Jr. and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil (Skip) Veith; sons Tom and Marty; grandson, Quenton Gordon; great granddaughter A’zurai Palmer; and brother, Lonnie Swisher.

Memorial gifts will go to Lighthouse Community Church for their Benevolence Fund.
