Norma Houseman Hurst, 84, passed away January 28, 2017. She was born in Hartford, Iowa, to Harlie and Anna Carpenter on July 23, 1932.
Norma retired from Principal Financial after 42 years of service. She was an avid bowler and loved spending time with her family.
Norma is survived by her son, Scott (Echo) Houseman; sister, Edna Clark; grandchildren, Jennifer Quinton, Tyler Ragsdale, Jessica Brenner, Elijah Osborn, Elivia Osborn, and Ethan Clater; great-grandchildren, Emmitt Ragsdale and Tenley Quinton; as well as other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gregg Houseman; sisters, Merna, Erma, and Vada; and brother, George.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

RIP Norma. You & Auntie Marge can watch bonfires together now. Thank you for being a good neighbor. Will miss seeing your car drive past every day at 4!!

Norma was a mother and a friend to me and many other people I was priviged to call her mom. when you gave her a kiss she would smile and just say i love you to. just one fine lady i and many will miss god bless as we will see you again love ya

What a wonderful friend you have been over the years. Sort of lost touch but have so many memories of the times we spent together. So sorry for your loss Scott & family. We will never forget all the good times we had with your family Scott.
