Dennis Higgins

Dennis P. Higgins, 75, passed away on January 25, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born in Creston, Iowa, on January 7, 1942, to Herman and Viola Higgins.

Dennis proudly served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. He was a lifelong resident of Bondurant and was a truck driver for Churchill Truck Lines.

Dennis enjoyed Polka music, trains, antique cars, and taking the scenic route on road trips.

Dennis is survived by his children, David (Joyce) Higgins, Julie (Brian) Yatchak, and Michael (Lisa) Higgins; siblings, Ron (Virginia) Higgins, Charles (Carolyn) Higgins, and Mary (Paul) Rogers; grandchildren, Derek, Dalton (Abbie), Dylan, Brian, Jacob, Katelyn, Kaleb, Kylie, Tiffany, Cassie, and Zoey; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Adam, Gabriel, and Rebecca; as well as other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn Higgins; son, Denny Jr.; and brother, Harold Higgins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona with burial to follow at Bondurant Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
