James "Jim" Elliott

James R Elliott was born on Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, NM, on September 26 1961. He was the second child to Robert Elliott and Helen (McVeigh) Elliott. He passed into the next world on January 9, 2017. He will be laid to rest beside his mother and grandparents in Algona, IA.
Jim graduated from Emmetsburg High School, Emmetsburg IA, with the class of 1980. His life took him to Dallas TX, where he trained and worked as a plumber. Even after returning to Iowa in 2007, he enjoyed helping family and friends with plumbing problems. While living in Dallas he was married to Laurie Pastor, and helped to raise her two daughters.
Most recently Jim was employed with Yellow Cab in Des Moines. He was a good driver and enjoyed talking with the people who shared his ride.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents. He is remembered by his sister, Julie (Robert) Ervin, his nephews, Karl Ervin, Jason (Amanda) Elliott, and Kevin (Abby) Ervin, all of Des Moines. He is remembered fondly by a network of family members, friends and classmates.
Memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at United Methodist Church, 2305 E. 12th, Des Moines.

I am sincerely saddened by Jim's passing. The last times I saw him he was such a happy and healthy example of the power of transformation.

Worked with jim for a while at kum & go he was a good coworker even after he no longer worked with me he still came in to show me his motorcycle. Hes a good man that will be missed

so sorry for your loss, Jim was one of my best associates and a hard worker. I am glad I got to know him for 5 years. RIP my friend.
