Becky A. (Benson) Snell
January 09, 2017
Becky Anne (Benson) Snell was born on October 27, 1946 to Lloyd W. Benson and Audrey Benson Stotts. Becky grew up in small town Arlington, Iowa until she was 14 years old at which time she moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she graduated from North High School in 1965. Becky was married shortly after high school and has three extraordinary children. (Her words)
Becky participated and worked in many different facets in her life. Becky was a proud North High Alumni who was involved in the class of 1965 reunion committee, a Garton Elementary PTA Blue Star Chairman, little league mom, Boy Scouts den mother, Girl Scout parent, Sunday school teacher, and East High School Booster Club member.
Becky was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and of the Berean women’s bible study. Becky also earned her Associates Degree from AIB College. Becky had many jobs such as Iowa student loan, Briggs Corporation, and Younkers until she retired in 2015. Becky also worked as a day care provider and a school crossing guard.
Becky always said that her biggest accomplishment was her 3 children and also to her children “Thank you for letting me be your mom!”
Becky went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ in heaven on January 9th, 2017 after a beautiful and courageous battle with cancer. Her strength and willpower were second to none. She lived with so much love and determination that nothing was going to hold her back from living her life especially with her family.
Becky is survived by her loving family, Son, Jim Snell (Jill Leonard), Michelle Snell, Son Steve Snell (Amy), Daughter, Christy Holmes (Shaun); her beautiful grandchildren, Amanda, Jamie (Chas), Jordan, Andrew, Benjamen, Madison, Jacob, and Caitlyn; her beautiful great-grandchildren, Aria, Hayden, and Carson; and a sister by choice, Bev Obrecht.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Hamilton’s Funeral Home located at 605 Lyon St, Des Moines, IA. Services will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home. Burial Services will be immediately following the service at Sandyville Cemetery, Sandyville, IA. Our world will not be as bright today because a beam of energy and light is no longer with us. Becky was a ball of energy in the North high reunion committee and will be sadly missed in the class of 65 family.

Jim, Steven and Christy;
Your Mom was an awesome Friend for 56 years!
I know she was even a better Mother!!
Her Family was her life. She Loved her Kids, Grandkids and Great-Grandkids with all of her heart.
I also know that you will miss her terribly, but can you imagine the moment she went to heaven, without pain. Her smile when she met Jesus face to face, and seeing her loved ones that are there. What Joy
she must feel.
Prayers and Love to your whole Family!!
