Jack Van Cleve
January 08, 2017
Jack Van Cleve, 91, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Taylor House Hospice. He was born October 8, 1925 to John and Pauline (Daily) Van Cleve in Kansas City, Missouri.
Jack proudly served in the US Navy during WWII and lived most of his life in Des Moines. He always knew the town like the back of his hand and would eagerly jump in his car and drive around Des Moines just to see what was going on. Jack owned and operated Pioneer Auto for many years in Des Moines.
We will miss his memoirs and stories he shared along with his spirted poems.
Jack has positively touched more lives than can be recalled. Thank you for all the uplifting visits and concerned inquiries during these last few months. They only solidified how important he was to so many people. We love you very much and you will be fondly remembered.
Jack is survived by close family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa Kidney Association or Taylor House Hospice.

I have been thae horn a few times. Though I have never meet a man I admired more than Jack. It is hard to explain what a man like Jack was. I could honest to the bone..and I will say that. I can say kind and generous, loving, kind hearted. Yeah, I will say all of those things. I will call him a gentleman and one of a special kind. I won't miss him so much as I will try to live him
