Michael Dean Fowler

Michael Dean Fowler, 62, was escorted by angels into the loving arms of Jesus on January 4, 2017 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. Mike's battle with Mesothelioma ended with his oldest sister and brother-in-law at his side.

Mike was born March 14, 1954 in Hartley, Iowa to Lee and Joyce Fowler and lived in northwest Iowa for much of his life. He was self-employed, working in construction and cement and a master at anything he attempted. His love for the guitar, good food, NASCAR, fishing and enjoying nature was second to the horses, dogs and cats that were the center of his life. He was most generous of himself and sharing whatever he had with those in need.

Mike is survived by his parents, Lee and Joyce Fowler; five sisters, Jackie (Jim) Peers, Sandy (Dan) Wiederholt, Patti (Paul) Grasso, Peggy (Craig) Havener, Kim (Tim) McKenna; brother, Jon (Bonnie) Fowler; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved fur babies, Cozmo, Izzy and Yeller.

According to Mike's wishes, he will be cremated with no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA) or the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation in Mike's name.
