Marion W. “Bud” Jordan, 94, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Ramsey Village.
Bud was born August 3, 1922 in Des Moines to Charles and Madge (Aikin) Jordan. He graduated from East High School in June of 1940. Bud proudly served in the United States Army, 113th Calvary during WWII, where he was awarded numerous medals including a Purple Heart. He retired in 1979 from the U.S. Postal Service after 39 years of service. Bud was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Order of the Purple Heart, Bellizzi-MacRae American Legion Post #659, where he served as Post Commander for several years, East High School Alumni Association and Booster Club. He enjoyed gardening and various other outdoor activities including riding his motorcycle. Bud was a mechanic and loved tinkering with anything mechanical. He was a BINGO caller and an avid square dancer.
Bud is survived by his sons, Dan and John Jordan; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Victoria (Vito) Jordan; son, Charles Michael; and his siblings, Virginia, Charles, Kathryn, Gladys, James and Violet.
The family will greet friends Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street with the Bellizzi-MacRae American Legion Post #659 presentation at 6 p.m. and the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Avenue followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Ramsey Village, especially Bev, Robin and Alice for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Anthony Catholic Church or American Legion Post #659 in loving memory of Bud.

Danny and John, Today will be hard for you both. I just want you to know that I think you should be so proud of all the care you gave your dad. He was such a great guy! I was so saddened to hear of you passing. You and Vickie were always so kind to me. I wanted to come to the funeral home to pay my respects but I am sick with the flu. My prayers are with you and your family. May God Bless

Dan and John, so sorry to hear about the death of your Dad. Bud was truly a charter member of Americas "Greatest Generation". We thank him for his service. He was a wonderful person and will be missed.

Blessings to you prepare to honor this remarkable man who is your hero and who means the world to you. We are sorry we won't be able to join you in person for services but we will be with you in prayers.. Danny we didn't have the pleasure to meet your dad but we know he must be quite a swell fella ro raise a great guy like you. May you find comfort in happy memories and in knowing you brought him joy.
