January 02, 2017
Alan Fenton, 67, passed away peacefully early on Monday, January 2, 2017 surrounded by his wife and daughters in his home after a battle with liver cancer. A funeral service will be held at Hamilton’s at 3601 Westown Pkwy, West Des Moines on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 3pm. Visitation to follow until 5pm.
Al was born in Des Moines on June 11, 1949, the son of DeWayne Fenton and Shirley (Gardner) Staley. He attended East High School and then entered the Navy in 1967. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served through 1971. Following his military service, Al returned to Des Moines and accepted a position with what is now MidAmerican Energy.
In May of 1977, Al married Teri (Galbreath) and together they had three daughters.
Some of Al’s great joys in life included time with family and friends, his dogs, watching Sprint and NASCAR races, fishing with his grandson, working in his garage, landscaping, and riding his motorcycle.
Al is survived by his loving wife, Teri, of nearly 40 years and three daughters, Jodi Fenton (Jason Benjamin), Cheri (Grant) Augustine, and Jessi (Derek) Dempster. He will also fondly be remembered by his grandson, Luca Fenton; three brothers, Tim Staley, Dana (Janet) Fenton, and Dale (Susan) Fenton; two sisters, Sue (Rick) Dennis and Marvanna (Mike) Rodgers; and several other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-parents, Rex Staley and Neva Fenton; one sister, Becky (Staley) Pauscher; and one sister-in-law, Christie Staley.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League, the Puppy Jake Foundation, or HCI Hospice Services in loving memory of Al.

I am so sorry that Mr. Fenton passed away. I understand what it's like to lose a parent, and I know that it is even tougher to deal with during the holidays. I hope that the warmth of your memories spent with your father will surround you and comfort you at this time. I love you all very much, and have been praying for your comfort and peace. Love, Shopha Tserotas and Family

It is with great sadness to hear of Alan's passing. Although it has been several years since being with Al, I can clearly remember the fun times and his cheerful face. Al was loved by all who came in contact with him and will forever remember his kind demeanor. .Dear Teri, and family; I pray that you find comport in knowing that Al is without pain, and has found eternal glory. as he rests in peace with our Lord.
