Ai Lan

Service Details

Ai Lan was born in Burma. He married Ei Mi there and had 7 children. His family stayed in the refugee camp, in Thailand, until 2011 when they came to Des Moines to live. Ai Lan helped his family settle in to their new life in Des Moines, and was able to get them a good home to live in. He worked at Loffredo for a year, but spent more time teaching himself how to fix things around the house and even how to repair his children’s cars. That is what he liked to do with his time.

Ai Lan passed away at home on the American New Year, January 1st, 2017. He left behind his loving wife, Ei Mi; four sons Ai Koat, Sai Maung, Ai Bi, and Ai Thein; and three daughters: Nang Ying Loe, Nang Khin Aye, and Nang Pyu. Ai Lan was a dedicated father and husband who wanted the best for his family. His children remember him as the best father who was sometimes the funniest yet at the next time wanting his kids to grow into the best adults.

As well as caring for his family, Ai Lan was working on learning English by going to classes 3 days a week. He loved to learn, and taught his family the same love of learning. Ai Lan spent a lot of time, on the weekends, with his friends that have also come to Des Moines. He was wanting to return to Thailand to see his friends and family. Ai Lan will return to Thailand soon.
