Katherine Barnes

Katherine Sophia Barnes, 55, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2007 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Cremation will follow the funeral and private family burial will take place at a later date.
Kathie was born June 25, 1952 in Jefferson, Iowa, the daughter of LaVern and Thelma (Johnson) Lass. She was a Sales Associate at Payless Shoes for many years and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Kathie was a Girl Scout Leader and loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Kathie is survived by her children, John Vodochodsky of Sioux City, Mark Vodochodsky of Des Moines, Michelle Barnes of Des Moines and Jamie Rouse of Des Moines; 9 grandchildren; brother, Larry Lass of Rhodes; sisters, Christine Lass of Scranton and Lorraine Ash of Melbourne; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; her brother, William Lass and her step-daughter, Rosalyn Barnes.
The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Kathie.
