David Ross

David Ross, 62, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A gathering of family and friends Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2016 at Community United Presbyterian Church, 315 North Vine Street in Hartford, IA.

David was born May 11, 1954 to Lewis W., Jr. and Marilyn (Myers) Ross in Des Moines. He grew up on the south side of Des Moines and graduated from DSM Technical High School in 1972. On December 17, 1983, he married Lisa Stocker-Ross in Des Moines and this is where they made their home.

David loved spending time with Lisa and their two children, Jennifer and Michael. He was a Master Auto Technician and he shared his skills with others. He was known for taking young men under his wing and helping them develop their automotive skills. Dave enjoyed watching Michael dirt track race in cars they built together. He never knew a stranger and loved to spend time socializing with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lisa; children, Jennifer (Thomas) Blackmon of Cincinnati, OH. and Michael (fiancé, Cody Foltz) Ross and their son, David Daniel due May 10, 2017; six brothers, Lewis III, Paul, Carl (Lisa), Richard (Deb), Jim (Linda) and John (Trish) Ross; and numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
