Arthur Mott

Arthur Paul Mott, 85, passed away December 23, 2016. He was born January 4, 1931 in Altoona, Iowa to Walter and Clara Mott. Arthur graduated from Runnells High School in 1949 and was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a hospital corpsman.
Arthur was married to Barbara Fleming and worked as an insurance underwriter in Des Moines for 29 years. He was a real people person and loved spending time with his family. He was a big supporter of his community and volunteered at the Des Moines Science Center, Mercy Hospital and Ramsey Home. He was an active member of Runnells Christian Church where he served in various leadership capacities and later joined West Des Moines Christian Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher at both churches. He was a member of the Lions Club and American Legion.
Art was a big tease and loved his dogs. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed golf.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Barbara; children, Stephen (Pam), Sandra Siedel and DeAnn (Andy) Koestner; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister, Roberta Traviss; and extended family and friends.
Family members who went before him in death are his parents; brothers, Carl, Duane and Bill; and son-in-law, Dick Siedel.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 10:30 am at West Des Moines Christian Church, 4501 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa.
