Clark Lathrum, Sr.

Clark Lathrum, Sr., 89, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Kavanagh Home in Des Moines. Clark was born on October 3, 1927 in Linden, IA. to Edgar and Retta Lathrum. Clark graduated from Ankeny High School in 1943. He was a member of the U.S. Navy. Clark worked at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Plant in Des Moines for 34 years before retiring in 1984. He loved to hunt and fish. He also was an avid Hawkeye and Oakland Raiders fan.

Clark is survived by three children, Gary (Kristi) of Des Moines, Clark, Jr. of Ankeny and Mick (Kim) of Indianola; four grandchildren, Justin Lathrum of Norwalk, Liza, Zane and Zach of Indianola; sister, Twylla Milligan of Des Moines; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and his wife, Mary Lou Lathrum.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Family will greet visitors from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at Elm Grove Cemetery in Des Moines.
