James Garren
December 18, 2016
James Charles Garren was born to Ray and Margaret (Meyers) Garren on June 26, 1928. He entered Heaven’s gates on December 18, 2016.
Jim was a lifetime resident of Des Moines. He was a trucker and worked in the tree trimming industry. Jim lived a very simple life but he had a heart that was bigger than life. He spread his kindness by giving stuffed animals to children and families at his favorite restaurant, The Village Inn, which he frequented often. Jim enjoyed bead work. He made countless bracelets and necklaces and decorated wooden crosses and gave them to those around him. He also loved going to garage sales, spending time with his friend, Mary Jo Killin, and visiting his friends at The Rose and Walden Point. He also appreciated the help and friendship of George Aquiuiga and Matty Smith.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Floyd (Bob) Garren.
Although there will not be service to celebrate Jim’s life, please spend time reflecting on his gentleness and kindness. Jim was one of God’s angels on Earth.

Thanks for the Christmas Card Debbie - I found out about our good friend Jim by checking obits. He was a good friend to me and Nathan and Ed all friends of ours. I visited him in August.
He was a good neighbor at Village Green and a good person to have coffee with and visit with him and Mary Jo at Village Inn.

Father God.
Thank you for Jim's friendship and his kindness to all our family particularly my daughter Sophie. By the worlds standards he had so little to give but we were blessed by him in so many ways. A top bloke and we will miss him until we meet again.
In Jesus name Amen.

Jim - I miss your kindness, your stories about you growing up and the great advice you told us about that your dad gave to you when you were little. It also meant a lot when you wanted us girls to call you when we got home after visiting you so that you knew we made it home safe. I know you are in heaven and I am happy you are with your family because I know you missed them. Give my mom a hug from me. You will be in my thoughts and prayers forever.
