Joseph “Mark” Chumbley, of Des Moines, passed from this life on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Union Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. In agreement with his wishes, no funeral services are planned. There is a celebration of life party on Saturday, January 28th, from 5:30 - 7:30 at the Grimes Community Center, Room 402. The address is 410 SW Main Street, Grimes IA.
Mark was born on August 23, 1947 in Des Moines to Glenn and Dorothy (Bricker) Chumbley. Mark was a graduate of Des Moines Technical High School, and worked as a stripper in the printing business. Mark was an avid race car and football fan, enjoyed spending time working on cars and being with family and friends.
Mark is survived by his children, Rick (Jan) Chumbley, Randy (Amie) Chumbley, and Jennifer (Mick) Day; his ex-wife Kathy Whitten; his brother Boag (Linda) Chumbley; seven grandchildren, Nikki, Katie, Trey, Ryan, Zoey, Seth and Jace; and one great grandchild, Carter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sharon Needels, brother, Terry Chumbley, and niece Shantelle Fenimore.

I am sorry to hear of Marks passing.Mark and I were friends in the National Guard. Mark, Bob Clark and I hung out guard drills.He stopped by my house awhile back and it was sure good to see him after all these years. He will be missed

Mark was such a joy to talk to and when he was here at Union Park, we loved all his strength in getting better and going home! He was a very kind and wonderful man. We will miss him. Our thoughts are with you all at this time.
