Dorothy Jean McIntosh

Dorothy Jean (Johnstone) McIntosh passed away at Kavanagh Hospice House on Thursday, December 15, 2016. She was 93 years old. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, 1001 Pleasant Street, with an additional visitation period for one hour prior to the service at the church. Lunch will follow the service. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Collins, Iowa.

Dorothy was born in Collins, Iowa, November 4, 1923, to Andrew and Hazel Geneva (Dodd) Johnstone. She graduated high school in Collins then continued her studies at AIB in Des Moines earning an Associate Degree in bookkeeping. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper, homemaker, and a secretary for the US Department of Agriculture.

Left to honor Dorothy's memory are her son Bruce (Margaret) McIntosh, daughter Julie McIntosh Klismith, six grandchildren Michael (Tina) McIntosh, Andrew McIntosh, Brian Klismith, Richard Klismith, Chelsey Klismith, and Aaliyah Klismith and five great granddaughters Taylor & Madison McIntosh, Sierra Fish, Olivia & Iris McIntosh. Additional loved ones include Allyson and Bryce Johnson, Kon, Jalen, Mason, and Lillian Lueth, & Lexi Johnson, five nieces Alecia (Steve) Storjohann, Teri (Dar) Johnstone, Debbie Johnstone, Tammie Cox, Rhonda (Mike) McIntosh-Smith, and one nephew David (Hiroko) McIntosh, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen of 66 years, her parents, and her brother Ronald.

Memorial may be made to Alzheimer’s research, Colon Cancer research, Kavanagh Hospice House, or First United Methodist Church.
