David Svatos

David James Svatos, 60, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Home in Des Moines, Iowa.
David was born November 16, 1956 in Ft. Morgan, Colorado to Raymond Sr. and Mary Svatos. In 1975, he married Peggy Kephart and enlisted in the United States Army. David loved cooking and baking and had worked as a cook for the Iowa City Public Schools. He enjoyed motorcycles, stock car racing, tractor pulls and fishing. David was a devoted family man and always looked forward to spending his weekends with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan. David was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.
David is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Peggy Svatos; children, Cassandra Svatos, Bradley Svatos, Mindy Svatos and Tonya Svatos; grandchildren, Alyssa, Isaiah, Oden, Angela, David and Zayden; mother, Mary Svatos; siblings, Linda (Robert) Downs, Joe (Vicki) Svatos, Raymond (Donna) Svatos, Jr., Helen (Dave) Critchfield and Sandy Svatos; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Svatos, Sr.; sisters, Vicki and Phyllis; and his brother, Paul.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God 314 E. Army Post Road. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Glad Tiding Assembly of God Church. David will be laid to rest Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa.

Have only had the privilege of knowing the Svatos for 4 years. David was a man of his word and also a very loving husband and dad. I extend my condolences to Peggy, Tanya and the rest of his family.

David was a very kind man. He will be missed. He was a great neighbor to us, it was nice to talk and visit with him and he was always very kind to our children. We extend our condolences to his Wife, their children, and to the grandchildren. RIP Dave.

Uncle David was a wonderful man and a great, fun uncle. He will be missed!! Praying for his wife and kids! He is with Grandpa now may he be at peace??
