Clara S. Swartz

Clara S. Swartz, 85, of Des Moines, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016. Clara was born August 3, 1931, to Elmer and Hazel Long. She was a lifelong resident of Des Moines.

Clara married Richard Swartz on July 28, 1950. She worked for Image Transformation, but she considered her real job was wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed fishing with her family and working in her garden.

Clara is survived by her daughters, Betty (Gail) Lundy and Cindy Bird; daughter-in-law, Nellie Swartz; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nora Miller; brother-in-law, John Rouse; foster-son, Sam (Mary) Allison; and many other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Richard; son, Richard II; parents, Elmer and Hazel; sisters, Mary and Helen; and brother, Charles.

A private family viewing was held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Swartz family.
