I just learned of Richard's passing today while visitng our daughter in Pennsylvania. We send our condolences and prayers to the family. I remember so well the good times we had when going to school in Van Meter and graduating from there. Richard was a close friened of mine in those years and I have often drawn on those quality times together with him and other
classmates.
When we return home I will contribute to his memorial of charities to be selected by his family.
May God Bless you and your family at this time.

I was sorry to hear of Dick's passing. I have fond memories of my friendship
with Dick throughout our school years. I considered him my best friend and only
regret that we were unable to see more of each other. One memory that stands
out in my mind: As freshman we were were both seeking the 12th spot on the varsity
basketball team. Being equal in ability, the coach decided to flip a coin to determine
the 12th spot. Dick won the toss and wore the nice blue uniform. The next three
years we played together as guards for the Van Meter Bulldogs. Dick also was a
groomsman at my wedding 46 years ago.
I express my sincere sympathy to Dick's family. He will always hold a place in my
heart.
Sincerely,
Phil England
