Jerry Little, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. He was born December 10, 1933 to George and Pearl Little in River Sioux, Iowa.

Jerry met and married the love of his life, Betty in Blencoe/Onawa, Iowa. Later the two moved to Des Moines in 1964, where he began work as an overhead crane operator at AMF Western Tool in 1965 until his retirement. Jerry had a passion for the outdoors, you could find him fishing or coon, deer, and mushroom hunting. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the slots at the casinos, having Sunday dinners with his family, and especially loved his dog “Baby”. Jerry’s personality was evident and shown through the gag gifts between him and the boys. He was famous for being known as a jokester and told his grandkids that he personally taught the Lone Ranger how to ride a horse, Tonto how to shoot a bow-arrow, the Red Baron how to fly the plane, and many other things we won’t begin to mention. His enthusiasm and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include, his loving daughters, Linda (Harry) Benge and Melody Little; grandchildren, LaLaunie and Misty Benge, Michael Miller, Austin Benge, Emily Konner, Larry Little, Jr., and Amanda Little; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Pat Reynolds of Tennessee, Ronnie Little of Iowa, Gary Little of Florida, Dennis Little of Tennessee, Vicki Bonine of Iowa; and many extended family members and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Betty; son, Larry Little; and son-in-law, Jim Miller; three siblings, Verna Sturtevant, Danny Little and Ricky Little.

Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2016, with funeral service following at 2:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 2nd at Onawa City Cemetery in Onawa, Iowa.
