Bill Britt Sr.

Bill Britt Sr., 82, was born June 30, 1934, in Iola, Kansas to Roscoe Gene and Lorene (Matheny) Britt. He passed away November 28, 2016, at Fountain View West in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked at John Deere for 20 years, retiring in 1994. Bill enjoyed going to sale barns and working with cattle. Going to Prairie Meadows’s was also a favorite past time of his. Bill’s family was his greatest pride; he loved attending his grandchildren’s events.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Evelyn; sons, Bill Britt Jr. (Loree), Larry Britt (Kris), and Terry Britt (Mindy); grandchildren, Christina, Justin (Jaymee), Maegen (Kevin), Brandon, Avery, Colin, Joshua (Danielle), Jeremy (Aryn), Jordyn (Ky) and Erik; great-grandchildren, Lily, Ella, Dakota, Dallas, Kennedy, Weston, Mila, Reagen, and Noah; brothers, Gene Britt and Jerry Britt (Pat); as well as a sister, Annie Sudbrock. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom and Mike; and sisters, Julia and Patti.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with burial to follow at Powers-Warren Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League.
