Lawrence & Carolyn Loffredo
November 24, 2016
Lawrence “Larry” Eugene Loffredo, age 74, passed away at 4:28 p.m. November 24, 2016 at Taylor House Hospice. Carolyn Ruth (Brasher) Loffredo, age 70, passed away at 5 p.m. at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center the same day from their own personal battles with cancer.
They were married 52 years. Their dedication to their wedding vows demonstrates their abiding love. Taking care of each other “in sickness and in health ‘til death do us part”.
Larry was an avid member of Mid-Iowa Bass Masters for many years. He enjoyed spending his time fishing and hunting. He was retired from Armstrong Tire & Waterworks.
Carolyn enjoyed cooking, shopping and spending time at the casino. She retired from Hy-Vee. Carolyn was an exceptional caregiver to her husband, even more so with his diagnosis and continued after being diagnosed herself.
They enjoyed their retirement and spending winters in Texas, camping, fishing and hanging out with friends.
Larry and Carolyn are survived by their three children, Debbie (A.J.) Loffredo-Breese, Sharon (Rick) Hendrix and Larry (Jamie) Loffredo; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and Larry’s siblings, Carolyn (Albert) Coakley and David (Debby) Loffredo.
They were preceded in death by their parents; Alfonso and Fanny Loffredo and John and Georgia Brasher; Larry’s brother, Ralph Loffredo; and Carolyn’s brother, Michael Brasher.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Taylor House Hospice.
The family sincerely appreciates the warmhearted compassion received by Dr. Hill and Courtney, (for many years), Taylor House and Toni, RN in CCU at the hospital.

It was such a privilege to know your mom and dad. I always enjoyed seeing them and they were always so genuine and kind. Their passing together must be hard but is also very sweet and heart warming, reminding us all what is truly important in life!

I met Larry and Carolyn while working for the Coakleys in the early 70's in Oskaloosa, They were a lovely couple and you could tell then their love was forever. Even in death, they wanted to be together, not being able to live without the other. They now have no pain, but they will always be in each other's arms.

I am still in shock after hearing such sad news. Sharon, you have always been a rock and I see why. Your parents lived and died the way all of us would love to live and die. I hope your family will find strength in each other. Big Hug Sharon.
