Gerald P. Nye, 70, passed away in his home, with his family by his side, on November 24, 2007. At Jerry’s request, an open house and celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at his home, 4102 N.E. 44th Drive, Des Moines, Iowa 50317, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
Jerry was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a compassionate and caring man who knew no stranger. Jerry was a simple, sincere friend who loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jo; his sons, Paul Nye and wife Melinda, Michael Nye and wife Shawn; five grandchildren; his brother, Michael Nye; his sister, Mary McFadden and husband Bernard; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Jerry is preceded in death by his mother and father, Harry Raymond and Lucille Mary (Niehaus) Nye; his brother, Raymond George Nye; and his sister, Catherine Dora Miller.
