Daniel Smith, 62, born August 28, 1954, passed away at his home Thursday, October 27, 2016.
In his earliest years of adulthood, “Danny” as he was most often called by his family and close friends, served his country proudly as an active duty member of the United States Army. Following his service, he spent nearly 30 years maintaining many electrical aspects of some of the most modern pieces of equipment at the Firestone Plant in Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sherry Simpson.
Daniel is survived by his sons, Nick (Mindie) Smith and Matt Smith; daughter, Jessica Ayala; the mother of his children, Leona Smith; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother, Mary Smithson; brother, James (Marcia) Smith; sisters, Debbie Crownover and Ronnie Kay (Harold) Erwin; brother-in-law, Skip (Jan) Simpson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

This is your brother speaking with you, Danny. I miss you my brother and I love you very much. Lifes lonelier these days without you in it. Many of your friends and your family members miss you a lot too. Keep smiling and try not to make God laugh too hard. Love your brother - Jimmy.

To Danny... When I met you.. You were so funny and kept me laughing . You always had a smile on your face.. You were so sweet to me always. I will miss you so much.. Take your Rest now Danny you are with the Lord. We all cared so much about you here and now you have to spread that Joy in Heaven.. as you did on Earth.. Heaven just received another Angel... Rest in Heavenly Peace...
