Raleigh Frank Thomas, 69, died on Friday, October 14, 2016 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. He was born January 15, 1947 in Des Moines and raised by his grandmother, Jessie.
Raleigh proudly served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and was a truck driver for most of his life, driving for Casey’s General Store for many years and then M&M Carthage. He was an avid Des Moines Buccaneers and Chicago Bears fan. Raleigh enjoyed riding his Harley, watching car racing, and spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include, his loving wife, Shawn; children, Michelle (Greg) Andrew, Joseph (Thais) Thomas, Ronda, Tracey, Tony, and Kiara; step-children, Amy and Melissa; grandchildren, Joseph Andrew and Sophia Thomas; siblings, Michael (Kim) Morris and Patty Rae Morris; and a host of other loving family and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raleigh Thomas and Patricia (Pohlad) Morris; and grandmother, Jessie (Williams) Pohlad.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Raleigh.

We were sorry to hear Frank had passed. We will always remember the softball games at the Forret get together. Frank loved to play and win. He always had a smile on his face. Our thoughts and prayers are with you especially today.

I'm sorry to read of the passing of Frankie. I am his cousin ( his dad & my mom were siblings) and haven't seen him since I was a little girl. I still have a picture of him in his uniform that he gave me. Please except my condolences.
