Heidi Marie Allen, 41, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 13, 2016. She was born November 20, 1974, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2016 at Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Ave S, Altoona. Heidi was a member of Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church. She worked for Des Moines Public Schools as a Success Worker, a dropout prevention program that mentors troubled teens guiding them back to the right path. Heidi touched the lives of many, many children over the years. She enjoyed traveling and boating at their family cabin on the Mississippi River, where she hosted many get-togethers for family and friends. Heidi was famous for being a short-order cook for all of the neighborhood kids. She was also a tremendous shopper and took full advantage of her Amazon Prime membership. Her life was dedicated to her family and she was truly an exceptional wife and mother. She leaves a legacy of selflessness, generosity, compassion and grace. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Heidi is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Mark; children, Emily and Chase Allen; mother, Cynthia McCarthy; sister, Suzette (Ron) Miesner; and mother-in-law & father-in-law, Paul and Lil Allen.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis McCarthy; and her sister, Margaret McCarthy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family for their children’s college fund in loving memory of Heidi.
