Cora Belle Hatfield (Stecker), 75, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 11, 2016, while at Israel Hospice House in Ames, IA. She was born February 17, 1941, in Woden, Iowa, beloved daughter of Martin and Laura Stecker of Titonka, Iowa, where she grew up. She graduated from Titonka Consolidated High School in 1959. She then attended cosmetology school in Des Moines, IA, where she later taught for two years. She dedicated most of her working life to Northwestern Bell Telephone Company (later called US West/AT&T) in Des Moines where she was a telecommunication operator and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Cora was a dedicated daughter, mother, grandmother and sibling who cherished her family and their time spent together. Cora had a beautiful soul and a great love for travel, gardening, and nature. She loved visiting new places, vacationing with her large family, and was devoted to spending time with her three grandsons. She was also a steadfast fan of the Iowa Cyclones and Hawkeyes, as long as they weren’t playing the Cyclones.

Cora is survived by her loving children, Mark Hatfield, Shellee and Trent Van Hove, and Jolene Cantrell; grandchildren, Teddy (Ted) Van Hove, Anthony (Tony) Cantrell and Thaddeus (Thad) Cantrell; brothers, James (Jim) Stecker, Duane Stecker, and Robert (Bob) Stecker; sisters, Lorraine (Laurie) Harms, Cathy Walter, Rose Erickson, Tricia Lindstrom, and Marlene (Marly) Stecker, and many Hatfield and Stecker brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Hatfield, Sr., her son, James (Jimmy) Hatfield, Jr., her parents, and one brother Elmer Martin.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 17, 2016 at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines. Celebration of life with refreshments will follow at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., Des Moines.
