Marilyn Steen

Marilyn Steen, 73, passed away on October 9, 2016, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born in Des Moines on February 5, 1943, to Arthur and Mandana Lewis.

Marilyn was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She devoted herself to her family and loved spoiling her grandchildren and grandma grandma kids any chance she had. Some of her favorite memories were those shared with John during their morning coffee and donuts.

When she wasn’t with her family, Marilyn enjoyed remodeling her home, working in her yard, sewing, crocheting, shopping, and being around others.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Teri (Gene) Armstrong and Heather (Andy) Cook; companion, John Miras; grandchildren, Ashley Armstrong (Ben Murphy), Mendi Armstrong, and Joshua Armstrong; great-grandchildren, Zackary Murphy, Peyton Murphy, and Araya Jeffcott; siblings, Robert, Phyllis, Janice, and Joyce; her beloved dog, Mickey and bird, Charlie; as well as a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandchildren, Micheal Paul Armstrong and Maranda Sue Armstrong.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016, with visitation beginning one hour prior, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Burial will follow services at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
