Joan Caldbeck

Joan Marie Caldbeck, 59, passed away at her home on Saturday, October 8, 2016.
Joan was born on April 29, 1957 in Des Moines to Thomas and Dolores Caldbeck. She graduated from Roosevelt High School. Joan loved children and worked for LaPetite Learning Academy for 15 years. She also volunteered at Friendly Forest in Windsor Heights for five years. She was a member of the Des Moines Chapter of the Iowa Council of the United Blind (ICUB) and Christ the King Catholic Church. Joan enjoyed horseback riding and exercising.
Joan is survived by her mother, Dolores Caldbeck; brothers, Kenneth (Suzanne) and Garry (Debra) Caldbeck; sister, Deborah Caldbeck; nephews, Brenton (Natalia) and Ryan (Alyssa) Caldbeck, great-niece, Olivia Caldbeck all of the Des Moines area; uncles, Lawrence (Shirley) Evans of Ames, Richard (Norma) Evans of Story City and Gregory (Pam) Evans of Jacksonville, Florida; aunts, Camilla (Richard) Coy of Parkersburg, Iowa, Carolyn Evans of Kelley, Iowa and Velma Caldbeck of Des Moines; and family friend, Jim Gallaugher of Des Moines. She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas B. Caldbeck and her sister, Anna Caldbeck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Joan will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family in memory of Joan.

Mrs. Caldbeck, I truly am sorry to hear of my friend passing. Joan was a blessing in my life as well as she was a blessing in your family. I will always remember the talks we had and the long walks we would take.Above all things I know she will enjoy being in Heaven! Much love to you and the family.

I was so sorry to hear about Joanie, we had some good times at LaPatite so many years ago. I am sure your family will miss her
happy personality & smile. She was a blessing to you & was blessed to have you all. A mass will be said for her at the Basilica of St. John on Ocotber 17th.

Joan will be missed. She was loving, caring, and stong. Joan was blessed with a family to take such good care of her.
