Geraldine Ann "Jean" Howard

Geraldine Ann “Jean” Howard, 87, passed away peacefully Friday, October 7, 2016, at Taylor House Hospice.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016, and funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 13, 2016. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Jean was born November 23, 1928, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Robert and Edith Darnell. She treasured spending time with her grandchildren. Jean enjoyed camping and traveling; she was a “Snow Bird” in the winter. She was a square dancer and loved her two dogs and her bird. Jean was also a member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Woodson; son, Eddie (and Susan) Howard; grandchildren, Shelly, Tammy, Steve, Matt, Sueann, Tom, Kim, and Sherrie; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; daughter, Brenda; and five siblings.
