Lana Sue (Worley) Clem, age 66, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 3, 2016, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines after a courageous battle with glioblastoma (brain cancer).
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. There will be a memorial service at Oakwood United Methodist Church, 400 NE 56th St., Pleasant Hill, at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2016. Burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery following the service.
Lana was born November 19, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa to Frederich and Phyllis (Hagedorn) Worley. She was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area with the exception of six years in Barstow, California. She married Donald E. Clem and they were blessed with two children, Mindy and Donnie. After raising her children, Lana returned to school in her 40s, graduating from Grandview with her BA in education. She was a building associate with Jefferson Traditional Elementary and a beloved special education teacher at Phillips Elementary, both in the Des Moines Public Schools system. Lana was a member of Oakwood UMC, Who’s Who, and Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers’ Sorority. She treasured time spent with her grandkids and family. She adored her second home in Arizona and liked spending time shopping.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Don Clem; daughter, Mindy Davis; son, Donnie Clem; grandchildren, Emily and Payton; brothers, Dennis Worley, Kenny (Lynn) Worley, and Billy (Jane) Worley; sister, Bonnie (Larry) Meyers; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family and many good friends.
Lana was preceded in death by her parents, Frederich and Phyllis Worley.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Taylor House Hospice in appreciation of their compassion and care for Lana and her family.

I knew Lana for many, many years as I was good friends with Don since kindergarten. Aimee got to know her the past few years and we spent some time with them at the fair. Lana was a very kind and loving person and we will miss her dearly. RIP my good friend.
