Bessie E. Allen

Bessie Elizabeth Allen, the second child of Frank and Elizabeth (Kelsey) Morang, was born October 17, 1938, in Brunswick, Maine. Bessie was a resident of Altoona from 1962-1998, before moving to Texas. On Saturday, October 1, 2016, she passed away at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Round Rock, Texas in the presence of her children. She was 77 years old.
Bessie raised her children in Altoona and retired from SE Polk Public Schools in 1998 after 25 years of service as a bus driver. She was a member of Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church until her relocation to Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Thomas Allen; and a grandson Jeremy Allen.
Those left to honor the memory of Bessie include her children, Vickie (Perry) Heer of Liberty Hill, TX, Frank (Mary) Allen of Liberty Hill, TX, and Dan (Donna Lynn) Allen of Raleigh, NC; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a sister Sandra Gray of Zephyr Hills, FL.
Family will greet friends from 9am-10am at Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Ave. S., Altoona, IA on Friday, October 7, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held immediately following at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at Altoona Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church following interment.

There will never ever be another "Bessie". Our hearts are broken, but fifteen years of wonderful memories as the closest you can be to family without blood will get us through. She will forever be in our hearts. Thanks to the family for sharing her with us. Much love to you all.

Bessie was a sweet, beautiful women. Enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with her and her family many years ago in her beautiful home in Altoona Iowa. Thanks for all the memories Bessie!!! Until we meet again !!!!
