Mary "Mickey" Eileen Ulmer

Mary “Mickey” Eileen Ulmer, 80, passed away October 1, 2016. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines on Thursday, October 6 with visitation from 10 to 11:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, IA at 2:00 p.m.

Mickey was born July 11, 1936 in Harrison County, Iowa to Mary (Corbitt) and Floyd Alvis. She married Charles Ulmer on July 2, 1955. Charles was a bridge builder, and the couple moved to various locations in the Midwest. Mickey made friends wherever she went. She was a generous spirit with a giving heart, but never a pushover. She was devoted to her family and friends. Mickey loved music, singing and the theatre and had a love for all wildlife.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Chuck Ulmer; her children, Patti (Jerry) Scheel, Danny (Linda Sue) Ulmer and Sandy (Jeff) Fisher; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Mickey was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim (Evelyn) Alvis; and her sister, Patty Alvis.
