Hazel Potter

Hazel Belle Potter, 83, was born December 4, 1932 in Audubon, Iowa, the daughter of Niels and Grace Nissen. She passed away peacefully Saturday, October 1, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Hazel loved cheering on her grandchildren at their many sporting events and music recitals. She enjoyed playing cards as well as the outdoors, especially camping and fishing with her husband. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family.

Hazel is survived by her children, Linda Pray-Scudillo of Hershey, Pennsylvania, Micheal (Debra) Potter of Altoona and David (Lisa) Potter of Bondurant; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Miller of Indianola; many nieces and nephews, other loving relatives and many special friends, and her faithful four-legged companion, Ginger. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Orville Potter; their daughter, Sherry Potter and three sisters.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2016 at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Ave. South. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Mitchellville Cemetery.
