Andrew Arnot
September 19, 2016
Andrew James Arnot, affectionately known as Andy, passed away suddenly on September 19, 2016 at the age of 74. Andy lived in West Des Moines, Iowa and Mesa, Arizona.
Andy will be missed and remembered by his family: Evelyn Arnot, his wife of nearly four years; sister, Anne Mollenhauer; sister-in-law, Ena Arnot; and nieces and nephews. Andy was preceded in death by Kai Arnot, his beloved wife of 41 years; parents, David and Mary Arnot; brother, Bob Arnot; and sister, Sheila Arnot.
Andy was born and raised in Kapuskasing, Ontario. He was a successful sportscaster at Global Television in Winnipeg and eventually became the network’s news director. His work was his passion, and he loved providing commentary on all sports from hockey to baseball. He was a loyal fan of the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Blue Jays. He enjoyed playing cards with friends, sipping a glass of merlot, and ordering the best dessert on the menu.
Andy’s life changed in the Spring of 2012 when he met Evelyn Libby in Mesa, Arizona. They fell in love and were married in October 2012. They enjoyed each other’s company, spent time traveling, playing golf and simply holding hands. Andy was embraced by Evelyn’s family of three sons, three daughters-in-law, and six grandchildren. Andy especially enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren who miss him terribly.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Andy’s life on Sunday, September 25 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and the service will be held at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Des Moines United Methodist Church. Condolences may be expressed online at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

I was saddened to read about Andy's passing in the Winnipeg Free Press. When he worked for CKND-TV in Winnipeg, he always was very professional and such a nice guy. I had the pleasure of serving as his colour analyst on some softball broadcasts.
