Richard E. McCrea

Richard Eugene McCrea, 60, passed away Monday September 19, 2016.

There will be a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

Richard was born July 13, 1956 in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Theresa (Mortley) McCrea. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army and was involved in training recruits. Richard, or “Popeye” to his friends, was very social and made friends easily. He enjoyed fishing and taking care of fish and was very involved in his neighborhood. He was an outdoorsman who liked camping and biking.

Richard is survived by his children, Tabatha Hamilton, Amy Stevens, Karrie (Jordan) Liggett, and Dustin Grant; grandchildren, Olivia, Savannah, and Tabytha; siblings, Judy, Billy, Vicki, and Betty; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Franny.
