Jodi Ellis-Thomas, 44, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, September 15, 2016. Jodi was born on November 14, 1971 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Jodi worked as a tax professional at H&R Block for five years. She played softball for Grandview Little League and attended McKee Elementary, Hoyt Middle School, and graduated from East High. Jodi enjoyed reading, shopping, and going to Prairie Meadows Casino. Above all, she cherished time spent with her grandson and family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, daughter, Allison Cleghorn; son, Matthew Thomas; mother, Carole Raffensperger (Bill); father, Ronald Ellis; grandson, Keegan Lester; siblings, Steven Ellis, Dawn Ellis (John), Kristen Ellis (Andrew), and Megan Raffensperger (Jesse); several aunts and uncles; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, September 19, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 20th also at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Jodi’s children in her loving memory.
