Virginia Belinsky

Virginia Belinsky passed away at Methodist Hospital on Thursday, September 15, 2016 with her loving family beside her. Virginia was born on November 22, 1924 in Ciales, Puerto Rico to Dionesia (Chevere) and Jesus Otero. She was one of 13 children.

Virginia lived in Puerto Rico for 19 years and in New York for 10 years before moving to Des Moines, Iowa. She married Alfred Chillura Belinsky and together they were blessed with two children.

Those left to cherish Virginia’s life are her children, Alfred Jr. (Jody) and Brenda (David) Jones; five grandchildren, Tera (Matt) Yoder, Cheyne (Leslie) Belinsky, Emma, Eric and Katherine Jones; four great grandchildren, Lavender Belinsky, Alexander Dow, Quentin and Owen Yoder; sister, Esther; and other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred; and eleven siblings.

Family will greet friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, followed by a graveside service at Sandyville Cemetery in Sandyville, Iowa.
