LaVay Fisher, 67, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 15, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. LaVay was born on March 22, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa.
LaVay loved being an in-home daycare provider, while raising her family and the neighborhood children. She was a loving wife, caring and giving mother, grandmother and friend; she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 44 years, David; sons, Clifford (Tya) Fisher and Lonnie Fisher; 8 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Anderson; sister-in-law, Sandy Thornton; and beloved extended family members and friends.
LaVay was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Deloris Thornton; brothers, Clifford and Martin Thornton; sister-in-law, Cathy Thornton; and brother-in-law, Steven Anderson.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2016, with funeral service following at 11 a.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of LaVay.

She was a wonderful mother in law and an awesome grandma to the kids. A beautiful person inside and out. I appreciated her talks and encouragement and will miss them dearly..rip lavay..my condolences to the family.

A million heart's are broken as a wonderful one is set free.... I will miss stopping by to visit and seeing your always smiling face . You were truly one in a million , one that couldn't help herself from helping anyone in need. I love you beautiful (As I'd always say) and will miss you dearly...
