Robert Sheldahl
September 11, 2016
Robert Gene Sheldahl was born on September 1, 1947 and passed away unexpectedly on September 11, 2016 at his home in Silver Springs, Florida. Bob was raised in Des Moines, Iowa by his parents Robert and Phyllis Sheldahl and graduated from Saydel High School.
Bob was a carpenter and contractor and after moving to Florida in 1999 ran Kingsley Construction until his retirement. He was blessed with one daughter, Erika, with his then wife Melanie Sheldahl.
Bob was a free spirit, born to be (a little) wild with a love of music, fun, laughter, boating and fishing. He cherished his family and friends, some for more than 50 years. He will be missed by all. The gentle loving man, the smile, laughter, and even the t-shirts will not be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, his beloved daughter Erika and her mother.
Bob will be greatly missed by his family, sister, Linda (Steve) Davis, brother, Bruce (Leesa) Sheldahl, and his nieces, nephews and countless friends including the three remaining Amigos - they know who they are.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines on Monday, September 19, 2016, with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. and a service immediately following at noon.

We were 18 when my sister and Dennis Dominguez set us up on a blind date. That was the beginning of our 50 years together. We dated, you asked me to be Mrs. Sheldahl, I said yes. We were way too young to make it work. Over the next 50 years we remained friends and lovers on and off. Lots and lots of crazy times over the years thanks to all your amigos. John you were always my favorite even though Dennis was my brother in law. I will miss my trips to Florida and our talks on the phone. Glad we just talked. We laughed and cried together. I knew you would be someone special in my life the first time I saw your smile. Give Jason a big hug from his Mom my love.
