Scott Dean Wolfswinkel
September 07, 2016
Scott Wolfswinkel, age 42, died tragically on September 7, 2016 while fulfilling his passion of being a pilot.
Scott was born August 28, 1974 in Sioux Center, Iowa to Helaine (Groeneweg) and James Wolfswinkel. He graduated from Rock Valley High School in 1993 and Northwestern College in 1997. He was the owner and founder of Wolf Construction, a West Des Moines based commercial construction firm and roofing contractor. Scott was a visionary and an incredibly hard worker who loved his family and employees. Scott truly had a passion for his work, enjoying it to the fullest every day.
He was a man of God, a light for Jesus, and touched the lives of many - especially the lives of his children. Scott mentored many and shared his gift of leadership with his employees, the students he coached in football at Des Moines Christian, and was passionate about connecting new relationships with God. His generosity was second to none. Scott loved spending time with his family – his children were his life. He also enjoyed guns, outdoor activities, listening to music, cooking, smoking meats and HORSEPOWER.
Scott is survived by his children, Mason, Kaden, Kia and Mylee Wolfswinkel; parents, Jim and Helaine Wolfswinkel; siblings, Brent (Lyndsay), Timothy (Jessica), Mark (Tracy) and Blake (Sarah) Wolfswinkel; his grandparents, Simon and Judith Groeneweg; the mother of his children, Sarah Rosberg; 9 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Sadie Wolfswinkel.
A celebration of his life will be held at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2016 at the church. Burial to be held at Resthaven Cemetery following the celebration of life.

I didn't know Scott really well in college, but I always felt he had a calming energy and a kind heart. I am truly sorry for your incredible loss.

I have known Scott and his family since he was 5 years old. I spent a lot of time at the Wolfswinkel home babysitting the boys. Several years later my husband Brad became Pastor at Carmel Church where the Wolfswinkel family attended. We became close as families and the boys, who were now teen-agers, were hanging out at in our home. Scott his brothers and their friends spent hours in Brad's office talking and laughing. I remember how Scott would play with our little daughter Tricia, throwing her in the air, and just let her hang out on his lap. Through the years we have followed Scott and his accomplishments. Wolfswinkel family, we have been praying for each one of you. We can;'t imagine the grief and loss you are feeling. We will continue to pray for you.

Scott was always a great friend and classmate. Going to grade school, junior high, high school and college with him was always a joy. He was always a bright, shining light. I will always remember those many fun overnights at Scott's in elementary and junior high. Many good memories. My sympathies to whole family.

Wolfswinkel family - it's hard to express how sorry I was to hear about Scott. I have so many good memories of our time together on rooftops across NW Iowa and later in Des Moines. I learned a lot from Scott and we shared many laughs together as we tried to keep the work atmosphere positive. I know from our time together that Scott lived life with big ambitions and always to the fullest. My heart aches for his children and for the rest of your family, but I am thankful for my time with him here on earth and for the fact that we will see each other again someday - for eternity!
Love to your family, Mike

I worked at Wolf Construction for 5 1/2 years and thought the entire Wolfswinkel family was incredibly kind and thoughtful. I was very appreciative of Scott for the job offer after being a Regency Homes employee when it closed it's door. Rest in peace my friend!

My father, Loren, and I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Scott over the last ten years. He was one of our favorite business associates; we always enjoyed meeting and talking with him. His passion for life was matched by few. May his blessed memory live on in the hearts of those who had the pleasure to know him.
