Lisa Ann Lillegard Vander Schel, 46, died Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life will be held 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home.
Lisa was born May 12, 1970 to Chris and Joann Lillegard. Her love in life was showing horses which she did for over forty years. She was a member of the American Quarter Horse and the Iowa Quarter Horse Associations. She was a loyal and dedicated friend to many people, and she especially loved spending time with her nephews Colby and Tyson.
Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Kenny; her step-daughter Kennedy Vander Schel; her parents, Chris and Joanne Lillegard; her brother, Shane (Amy) Lillegard; her nephews, Colby and Tyson Lillegard; and many loving extended family members and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Lisa.

The moment I met Lisa I knew we would be great friends. We have too many stories to tell and probably shouldn't tell them anyway. For over 27 years she has been a loyal, kind and genuine friend.
Lisa brought a great deal of joy to my life. Even though I traveled all over from racetrack to racetrack Lisa and I never lost contact and remained friends. She would visit when she was in my town and LORD did we have fun!! After I moved back to Iowa Lisa remained a close friend and happy to say some of her life long friends have also became mine. She was a blessing in my life and she will be missed by many.
Lisa I love you dearly and I know you will pop into say Hi and possibly we will sing a duet at Karaoke next time I take the mic.
Joanne, Chris, Shane, Amy & kids, and Kenny you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
