Meredith D. Johnson, 87, passed away on September 5, 2016 in Ankeny. He was born on September 21, 1928 to Rollie and Gladys Johnson.
Meredith proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was very handy, enjoyed woodworking, fixing all mechanical things, especially cars, and traveling. Meredith was the President of the water skiing club Des Moines Ski Hawks, a board member of the Early Wheels of Iowa, a Mason and a member of the American Legion. He owned and operated Turners Hydraulic for most of his career and spent 10 years driving for Five Oaks Charters.
Meredith is survived his wife, Dixie; son, Douglas Johnson; step-children, Larry (Brenda) Botts, Lisa Sams, Greg (Tonia) Pierce, Skylar Pierce; grandchildren, Gabrielle Johnson, Levi (Katherine) Sams, Jake Sams, Garrett Pierce, Dawson Pierce and Corbin Pierce; great-grandchildren, Adalynn and Andrew Sams; brothers, M.L. (Gaye) Johnson, Kendahl (Norma) Johnson and Marvin (Barbara) Johnson; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Monday evening also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Very sorry to hear of Meredith's passing. He was a wonderful person to work with and I know all those that had him as their driver really enjoyed him.
